ST. PAUL – The No. 18 University of Northwestern volleyball team will take on St. Norbert College in the opening round of the St. Paul Regional Thursday night at 8 p.m. inside the Ericken Center. The Eagles – who are coming off their first-ever NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2015 – are serving as the eight-team regional host for the first time in program history.

Northwestern earned its seventh-straight NCAA Tournament appearance after sweeping Minnesota Morris in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament title match last Saturday. The Eagles enter the regional with a record of 30-4. The 30 victories are tied for the most ever by an Eagle volleyball squad. Northwestern is 4-6 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
UNW's opponent will be the champion from the Midwest Conference – the St. Norbert College Green Knights. SNC comes into the weekend with an overall record of 16-14. It is the eighth tournament appearance for the Green Knights and first since 2011.
The winner of Thursday's match will take on the winner of the University of St. Thomas and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse contest on Friday night at 7 p.m.
