Football to Host MacMurray Saturday at Noon

ST. PAUL – The 5-0 University of Northwestern football team will look to remain perfect when it welcomes MacMurray College (3-2, 2-2 UMAC) from Jacksonville, Ill., Saturday. Kickoff at Reynolds Field is slated for noon.


THE NORTHWESTERN FILE
The Eagles enter Saturday's matchup a perfect 5-0 after most recently grinding out a 25-18 road win at Iowa Wesleyan last Saturday.
 
A LOOK AT THE OPPONENT
A very dangerous MacMurray squad makes the trek up from Jacksonville, Ill., Saturday with a 3-2 overall record and 2-2 mark in league play. The Highlanders are coming off a 31-10 win over Minnesota Morris last week.
 
DOMINANT DEFENSE
The storyline of 2016 has been UNW's stout de­fense. The Eagles posted three-straight shutouts to start the season and are surrendering just 7.60 points per game.
 
SENIOR SIGNAL CALLER
Senior Corban Halbur (Richfield, Minn./Richfield) has stepped in under cen­ter and done an impressive job for the Eagles. The Richfield native has a passer efficiency rat­ing of 130.40 after completing 62-of-108 passes for 892 yards and three scores.
 
PROTECTING THE HOME TURF
Since opening the newly renovated Reynolds Field in 2014, the Eagles have compiled an im­pressive 12-1 tally on their home turf. In those 11 home contests, UNW has outscored its op­ponents 432-187.
 
ANENSON ANSWERS
When senior defensive back and return special­ist Kyle Anenson (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) got the nod at running back two weeks ago, Anenson answered and deliv­ered in a big way. The speedster accounted for three touchdowns against Martin Luther and was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his efforts. He added two more touchdowns on the ground last week.
