MENThe University of Northwestern men's tennis team opened its season in style, as the Eagles defeated the Milwaukee School of Engineering 7-2 on Saturday morning in the season opener. The final match score was
UNW 7, MSOE 2Later on tonight, UNW faced North Central for a second match-up for the day.
CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) and
Brett Jacobus (Lakeville, Minn. /Lakeville North) had an undefeated doubles match with a final score of 8-0. Josh Kimball and
Cameron Fair (Sterling, Kan./Sterling) were close to perfect with 8-1 for the day, followed by another Eagle win from
Landon Ridpath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech ) and
Derek Williams (Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River) (8-2).
In the singles category, all six Northwestern individuals came away with a win. The final match score against North Central was 9-0.

Tina Matetich (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) teamed up for a 8-0 win for doubles, with
Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) and Jess Henke, and
Emily Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) and
Nikki Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) all earning an 8-1 finish.
