Anderson Bazile Jr. (Houston, Tex./San Antonio Reagan) scored a game-high 15 points and the University of Northwestern men's basketball team shot 55.7 percent from the field as the Eagles cruised to a 93-45 victory over Finlandia University (3-14) Friday evening inside the Ericksen Center. UNW improves its season mark to 14-3.
The Eagles shot a blistering 66.7 percent from the floor in the first half en route to taking a 51-17 advantage into the locker room.
Cody Sprenger (Grey Eagle, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) scored all 14 of his points in the opening frame and
Kyle Ooms (Hollandale, MN/Albert Lea High School) added eight points and nine boards to pace the Eagles in the first 20 minutes of play.
UNW kept its momentum rolling in the second half, as the Eagles totaled 42 second-half points to secure a 93-45 victory. Each of UNW's players saw the court in the Eagles' 14
th win of the season.
Bazile Jr. was very efficient, scoring his15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in 19 minutes of action. Ooms notched his fifth double-double of the year, tallying 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, while
Peter Maring (Harris, Minn./Cambridge Christian) contributed 10 points.
Northwestern dominated the paint, outscoring Finlandia 58-20.
The Eagles will welcome Northland College tomorrow in the annual Hoops Hysteria contest. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
