Allie Franzen shines in UNW victory over St. Scholastica


ST. PAUL — With a late goal in the second half, Northwestern triumphed 1-0 over the College of St. Scholastica Saturday night at Reynolds Field, handing the Saints their first loss in their last 40 conference games.

With five minutes on the clock in the second, Allie Franzen (Andover, Minn./Legacy Christian ) took a free kick from 35 yards back, scoring the first goal of the night. Just when CSS was about to make their last minute move, Franzen made a sliding save on the goal line when goalkeeper Samantha Dewey (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) came out to attempt the save.
 
The Eagles will host Hamline University Tuesday under the lights at 7 p.m. Traveling to New Ulm, Northwestern will continue conference play at Martin Luther next Saturday at 4:15p.m.
