MATCH 1 vs Martin Luther College

UNW started the day off with a quick 3-0 win over MLC, earning 42 kills over the Knights. The Eagles started off set 1 down 7-8 and went on a electric 12 point run, launching them to a score of 19-8. They capitalized on this run for the rest for the match, leading MLC for the remainder of the contest. The Eagles hit a .444 for the match, the highest attacking percentage so far this season.
Players that stood out were

Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork), leading in kills and digs.
MATCH 2 vs Minnesota Morris
(22-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-22 13-15)
UMM took the first two sets from the Eagles. Both teams amassed 27 kills each in the first two sets, as Minnesota Morris managed to seal the deal each set with a few Eagle attacking errors.
Northwestern took the lead in the third, forcing a Cougar timeout with a score of 13-8. With momentum on their side, the Eagles launched to a 19-13 lead. UMM kicked themselves in the foot with 11 attacking errors in set three alone, resulting in a victory for the home team. UNW forced a fifth set with another set victory. In a dramatic fifth set, both teams were tied at 11. With a 14-12 Cougar lead,
Lydia Palkert (Excelsior, Minn./Southwest Christian) smashed down a 15-foot kill but Morris responded with a kill off the Eagle block.
Peterson came away with an impressive 19 kills and 20 digs.
Abby Vander Galien (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian) was close behind with 11 kills and 15 digs, also earning a double double. Freshman
Freya Hanson (Otsego, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) earned a solid 19 digs, with
Jackie Foster (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City) at 18. Shany Gonder racked seven blocks, tying her season-high for a match.
Northwestern will play the College of St. Scholastica at 11 a.m. tomorrow, follewed by a match at 3 p.m. against the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
