ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Minnesota Morris Saturday at Reynolds Field. Saturday's contest marked the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opener for both squads.
The Cougars scored four minutes into the contest and then added another goal late in the first half for their two goals.
The Eagles held the advantage in the shots category, putting up 20 compared to 14 for the visitors.
Megan Larsen (Appleton, Wis./Appleton East) and
Asia Owens (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) fired four shots each to lead the offensive attack for UNW, while
Kirsten Aderton (Rochester, Minn./Schaeffer Academy) and
Abbey Lamfers (Richfield, Minn./Edina High Scool) tallied three shots each. Two of Larsen's four shots were on goal.
Josie Monson (Albertville, Minn./Homeschool) tallied five saves on the afternoon.
The Eagles will host Bethany Lutheran Monday night at Reynolds Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
