Eagles Welcome Crown For Home Opener

ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern football team will welcome cross-town foe Crown College to Reynolds Field Saturday for its home and Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opener. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with the annual Football Frenzy event also on tap for Saturday.

The Series
Northwestern leads the all-time series with Crown 21-2, having most recently defeated the Storm 40-14 last season in St. Bonifacius.

About Northwestern
The Eagles dropped a heartbreaker to St. Olaf last week on the road in Northfield. UNW held a 13-10 advantage heading into the locker room, but a late Ole touchdown secured the win for the home squad in the opener for both teams. After going 8-2 (7-2 UMAC) last season, Northwestern was picked second in the UMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

About Crown
The Storm suffered a 56-13 defeat at the hands of Gustavus last Saturday in their home opener. The visiting Gusties jumped out to a 35-0 advantage and never looked back, amassing 683 yards of offense – with 420 of those coming through the air. After finishing last year with a 4-6 (4-5 UMAC) record, Crown was picked to finish sixth in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
