FRIDLEY, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's tennis team lost a nonconference battle against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday, falling 7-2 at Lifetime Fitness.

Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) was a part of. Moe teamed up with No. 1 doubles partner
Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) to defeat La Crosse's Bridget Bellissimo and Bryanne Blanton 8-5 before Moe was a 6-1, 6-1 victor over Blanton in her No. 2 singles match.
From there on out, it was a tough stretch for Northwestern, who hosted the other Eagles team at a neutral site.
Birdie Bardwell (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) and
Tina Matetich (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) were able to get five games off of UW-L's Alaina Bublitz and Kendra Woyahn at No. 3 doubles, with
Rachel Bostrom (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and
Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) falling 8-3 to Jennifer Graham and Rachael Wabers in the No. 2 doubles bout.
Johnson suffered a 6-4, 6-3 loss to Bellissimo at No. 1 singles, with Bostrom dropping a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Woyahn at No. 4.
Northwestern returns to the court on Monday of next week when it hosts North Central University in a 6:30 p.m. Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) match at the Johnson Tennis Complex on campus.
