DULUTH, Minn. – The University of Northwestern dropped to 1-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play with a 9-0 loss to the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon at Arrowhead Tennis Center.
Match ResultsSaturday was a tough go-around for the Eagles, as St. Scholastica only yielded seven games to UNW throughout three doubles matches and six singles bouts.
CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) and
Brett Jacobus (Lakeville, Minn. /Lakeville North) took a pair of games off of CSS's Josh Stainer and James Mack in the No. 1 doubles match, while Jacobus lost to Stainer 6-2, 6-2 in their No. 2 singles contest.
Cole Grasto (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake) was the only other Northwestern player to win a game in his 6-1, 6-0 loss to Mike Fontana at No. 4 singles.
In terms of matches, UNW is off until Wednesday of next week, when the Eagles host their first competition at home on the new Johnson Tennis Courts on campus in St. Paul. That 4:30 p.m. match is against Bethel University.
