ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern volleyball and women's soccer teams will be in action Wednesday, as the women's soccer team is set to host Northland College at 4 p.m., while the volleyball squad will welcome the College of St. Scholastica at 7 p.m. in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) semifinal tournament action. Both teams enter the conference tournament as the top seed.
The Northwestern volleyball team completed UMAC play with an 8-0 record, sweeping each of its opponents during loop action.
Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) has had a stellar sophomore campaign, as the outside hitter has been honored with UMAC weekly awards five times this season. Peterson, who reached the 1,000 career dig milestone last week against Minnesota Morris, has 398 kills on the year. UNW topped Scholastica, 3-1, on Sept. 19, and swept the Saints on Oct. 24.
After dropping its conference-opening match against Minnesota Morris, the women's soccer team has put together a perfect slate, compiling a 9-1 league record. The Eagles are led by Jordan Skarin (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo ), who has scored 15 goals this season, while tallying five assists. First-year goalkeeper Josie Monson (Albertville, Minn./Homeschool) has been impressive, as she has grabbed 64 saves en route to posting five shutouts this fall. UNW defeated Northland, 3-0, on Oct. 10 at Reynolds Field.
