WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Northwestern volleyball team is set to take on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Thursday night in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. First serve inside Russell Arena is slated for 8 p.m. Whitewater, who was ranked No. 11 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, are the top seed in the eight-team region.
This will be third meeting in program history between the Eagles and Warhawks, with Whitewater winning the first two meetings, most recently in 2013.Tournament CentralNCAA BracketRegional Tournament PageLive StatsLive Video UNW News & NotesThe UNW volleyball team (26-8) defeated the University of Minnesota-Morris (21-12), 3-1, in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament Championship game last Saturday night inside the Ericksen Center. It is the fourth-straight year UNW has received the league's automatic bid to the postseason. Northwestern is the only school in the state of Minnesota to have qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament each of the last six years.

Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) leads the Eagles, as the sophomore outside hitter has tallied 433 kills this season, while chalking up 583 digs. Peterson was named MVP of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament.
- Dating back to Sept. 19, the Eagles have won 20 of their last 21 contests. Included in that stretch was a perfect 8-0 record in UMAC play.
- With its 26-8 record this season, UNW has now won 20 or more matches for the ninth-straight year.
A Look at the WarhawksThe Warhawks have compiled a 31-4 overall record and most recently swept UW-Oshkosh in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament Championship.
- The University of Wisconsin- Whitewater's juniors Staci Hasler and Lauren Pfeifer were named to the first-team All-WIAC last week. Pfeifer leads the conference with 441 kills, averaging 3.67 per set. Hasler, the Warhawk's setter, is tied for second in the WIAC with 45 service aces.
- The Warhawks are playing in their 24th consecutive NCAA Tournament Appearance
- The No. 1 seed is 31-4 this season, having won 21 of their last 22 matches.
- UW-Whitewater claimed its 15th WIAC Tournament Championship.
