MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Northwestern held off North Central University with a 3-2 victory Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles played in Elliott Park, North Central's debut season on their renovated turf field on campus.
Jordan Skarin (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo ) scored two goals for the Eagles in the first half. The first was assisted by sophomore
Anna Hitterdal (St. Louis Park, Minn./Southwest Christian) and the second,
Megan Larsen (Appleton, Wis./Appleton East). North Central was able to put a goal on the board before the first half ended in the 32nd minute of play.
With 31 minutes left in the second,
Megan Larsen (Appleton, Wis./Appleton East) scored from 20 yards back, scoring deep into the upper left side right over the Rams' keepers' reach.
Brynn Denniston (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) assisted the third Eagle goal of the night.
The Rams scored again with 58:40 into the game, with Dakotah Sparrmans second of the afternoon, but the Eagles held on to the 3-2 victory. UNW outshot the Rams 21 to seven with ten more shots on goal.
Northwestern (6-2 UMAC) will host Northland College at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Field.
