Eagles Earn 10th Consecutive UMAC Win Against Crown

ST. PAUL — The University of Northwestern women's soccer defeated Crown College Wednesday night at Reynolds Field. The Eagles improve to 8-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, guaranteeing a second place seed this week with one regular season contest remaining.

Jordan Skarin (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo ) scored her 13th goal of the season in the 7th minute, assisted by Megan Larsen (Appleton, Wis./Appleton East) who slotted the ball through the defense for a breakaway goal. Emily Goeppinger (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) scored the second Eagle goal of the night with a pass from Kirsten Aderton (Rochester, Minn./Schaeffer Academy) 20 minutes into the game. Crown put a point on the board with five minutes remaining in the half. UNW outshot CC 15-5 in the first half.

Skarin had her second goal in the 56th minute with an assist by senior Allie Franzen (Andover, Minn./Legacy Christian ), putting the Eagles up 4-0. Sophomore Maddie Leever (Ankeny, Iowa) made her second goal of the season with a double assist by Anna Hitterdal (St. Louis Park, Minn./Southwest Christian) and Abbey Lamfers (Richfield, Minn./Edina High Scool) to keep the ball rolling for the home team. Katie Meinke (Victoria, Minn./Southwest Christian) closed out the night with a final Northwestern goal, with an assist by Skarin with eight minutes remaining in the game.

Northwestern will travel to Superior, Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
