Women's Soccer Clinches Share of UMAC Title With 1-0 Win at Superior

Superior, Wis. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team won 1-0 over the University of Wisconsin- Superior Saturday afternoon to clinch a share of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference regular season title. With the victory, the Eagles secure the No. 1 seed going into UMAC Conference Tournament. Northwestern finished the regular season with a 9-1 record in the UMAC, continuing their 11-game winning streak in conference. This is the first time the Eagles have claimed the regular season title since 2000, a first for head coach Josh Pettit.

Remaining scoreless in the first half, both teams struggled to capitalize on offense. Jordan Skarin (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo ) sealed the deal for the Eagles, scoring in the 49th minute of play assisted by Abbey Lamfers (Richfield, Minn./Edina High Scool). Able to hold the YellowJacks to zero goals, UNW ended the 90 minutes with a score of 1-0.

Skarin is now tied for fourth in most goals scored in a season and seventh in points in a season at Northwestern with postseason starting in just over a week.

Northwestern will host the UMAC Tournament semifinals on Wednesday, November 4th. Time to be announced. See unweagles.com for more updates.
