Football Hosts St. Scholastica in Showdown of UMAC Unbeatens

ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern football team will welcome St. Scholastica in a battle of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) unbeatens Saturday. Kickoff at Reynolds Field is set for 6 p.m.

Northwestern File
The Eagles enter Saturday's showdown with a 5-1 overall mark after grinding out a 21-13 win at MacMurray last week. UNW used two second-half touchdowns and a gutsy effort from the defense to escape the Land of Lincoln with its fifth win in a row.

A Look at the Opponent
St. Scholastica cruised to a 41-7 win over Iowa Wesleyan last Saturday in Duluth. After dropping their season opener to Ripon, the Saints have rolled to five-straight wins. The UMAC preseason favorite is led by Preston Robinson, who has amassed 408 yards on 70 carries this fall. The junior running back has found the end zone six times. Alex Mangan's 50 tackles leads a strong Scholastica defense.

Home Field Advantage
With a 57-7 Homecoming win over Iowa Wesleyan two weeks ago, UNW improved its record to 7-0 at the newly renovated Reynolds Field. Northwestern has outscored its opponents 267-104 in the last two seasons at home. The Eagles will play three of their final four games on their home turf.

What's At Stake
With both teams coming in with unblemished 5-0 conference records, first place in the UMAC is on the line. Scholastica won a thriller last year in Duluth, coming away with a 28-24 win. With Westminster (4-1) right on their heels, both teams are in need of a victory Saturday.
