FRIDLEY, Minn. – Saint Mary's University put an end to the University of Northwestern's four-match winning streak on Wednesday afternoon as the Cardinals defeated the host-Eagles 8-1 in UNW's first outdoor match of the year in the state of Minnesota at Lifetime Fitness. UNW's lone point came in the No. 4 singles match.

Levi Busse (Amery, Wis./Amery) outlasted his opponent, Andrew Johnson, 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) in the No. 4 singles match for UNW's only point of the afternoon.
Unfortunately for Northwestern, the rest of the day went Saint Mary's' way.
Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) had a close call in the No. 1 singles match before ultimately losing to the Cardinals' jimmy Ekman 7-6 (8-6), 6-2.
Agassi Mila (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) nabbed seven games from Gavin Smith at No. 3 in a 6-4, 6-3 final.
After Wednesday's nonconference match, Northwestern falls to 5-11 on the year. UNW will be back in action on Thursday as they head to New Ulm, Minn. for a UMAC contest against Martin Luther College. That bout is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
