Northwestern took all three doubles matches in dominant fashion. Eagles head coach Matt Swigart switched up his doubles lineup slightly, with Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) teaming up in a No. 1 doubles win over the Cougars' Abby Fragodt and Kayla Kraemer by an 8-2 account. Kelly Johnson (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) paired with Amber Gallaway (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) played together in the No. 2 doubles match and were good for an 8-2 victory of their own over Christina Mollan and Kayla Hegna. Rachel Bostrom (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and Courtney Lawlor (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) then followed suit in the No. 3 doubles match, winning 8-1 versus Emma Zapchenck and Natasha Gindorff.

Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) started singles play with a No. 1 victory over Fragodt, 6-1, 6-3 while Moe was victorious over Mollan 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles match. Lawlor was the only other UNW player to get a full two-set match in as she defeated Zapchenck 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Kelly Johnson (Annandale, Minn./Annandale), Bostrom and Gallaway all played eight-game pro set matches, winning 8-5, 8-3, and 8-0.

Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) broke two program records on Tuesday, becoming the program's all-time winningest player in both singles and doubles matches. Johnson's new marks of 46 singles wins and 45 doubles victories are tops in Northwestern's 17-year run in sponsoring women's tennis.

Now 17-6 on the year and 9-1 in UMAC play, Northwestern will look ahead to the conference tournament, which will start with the Eagles facing No. 4 seed Martin Luther College at 6 p.m. on Friday night. The winner of Friday's match will advance to a 12 noon championship contest on Saturday, with all four tournament contests being played at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
