DULUTH, Minn. – The Northwestern men's tennis team was swept 9-0 by the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Game of the Week. The loss drops the Eagles to 7-2 in league play with one UMAC contest remaining on the 2014 schedule.
Meet ResultsSt. Scholastica took all three doubles matches fairly easily with Josh Stainer and James Mack defeating the Eagles'
Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) and Phil Gudim 8-2 in the No. 1 contest and CSS's Nick Lambrecht and Cullen Combs handing UNW's
Levi Busse (Amery, Wis./Amery) and
Agassi Mila (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) an 8-2 loss at No. 2. The Saints won the No. 3 doubles match by default after Northwestern's
Trevor Grasto (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake) suffered an injury during that contest.
Things got worse for UNW in singles action as the Saints yielded just one game in all but one of the six matches. Mila was the lone Eagle to get at least two games off of his opponent, Lambrecht, in the No. 3 singles match.
Northwestern, who drops to 8-13 overall, will wrap up the regular season portion of its year on Tuesday, April 29 as the Eagles are slated to head west for a bout against the University of Minnesota Morris at 4 p.m.
