MANKATO, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team claimed its second victory of the week with a 7-2 win over Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) foe Bethany Lutheran College. The Eagles took two of the doubles matches while winning five of the six singles contests.

Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) and Phil Gudim defeated their counterparts from Bethany Lutheran, Jacob Kubler and Ryan Koch, 8-0.
Agassi Mila (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) and
Levi Busse (Amery, Wis./Amery) needed a little more time at No. 2 doubles but still got the job done in an 8-4 win over Jason Buechler and Troy Hoyord. The Grasto Brothers of Trevor and Cole were on the losing end of an 8-6 final in the No. 3 doubles match against Zach Carlson and Paul Riediger.
While Ekman and Mila both won their Nos. 1 and 3 singles matches 6-0, 6-3, Gudim was able to sweep Koch 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Busse had little difficulty in his No. 4 single contest against Buechler and
Trevor Grasto (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake) went the distance in a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5) third set tiebreaker at No. 5 singles. Riediger had
Cole Grasto (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake)'s number, winning the No. 6 singles match 6-1, 6-3.
Both the Vikings from Bethany Lutheran and Northwestern will face the same opponent in their next match. Bethany will take on the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday morning before the Eagles (8-12, 7-1 UMAC) make the trip to Duluth, Minn. for a 3 p.m. match against the Saints in the UMAC Game of the Week.
