Women's Tennis' eight-match win streak halted by La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse snapped Northwestern's eight-match winning streak on Saturday in a 9-0 finish at the Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse. With the exception of the No. 1 singles match, nearly every other contest down the line went in overwhelming fashion to the Eagles from La Crosse.

Match Results

Northwestern's top two doubles teams were each only able to get three games off of their La Crosse counterparts, while UNW's No. 3 doubles pair of Rachel Bostrom (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and Courtney Lawler were on the losing side of an 8-2 score in their bout. Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) was the only player in a Northwestern uniform to win a set on Saturday, but the junior barely lost a third set tiebreaker in her No. 1 singles match, succumbing to Olivia Hartwick 3-6, 7-5, 10-8.

Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) and Tina Matetch each took four games from their opponent throughout their Nos. 2 and 4 singles matches as the Eagles fell to 12-5 on the year.

Northwestern returns to action on Tuesday, April 15 when the Eagles host Saint Mary's University at Lifetime Fitness in Fridley for what is currently scheduled to be a 3:30 p.m. match.
