Women's Golf takes top spot at Martin Luther Invitational

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. – The University of Northwestern was the lone school to play a full team in Thursday's Martin Luther College Invitational with four of the 11 individuals who played wearing a UNW shirt. Naomi Black (Darlington, Wis./Darlington)'s 14-over-par score of 86 won medalist honors on the day.

Black beat her next closest opponent by 10 strokes on the par 72, 5,800-yard North Links Golf Course. Samantha Davis (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) and Barbara Murray (Chisago City, Minn./Chisago Lakes) both carded 114s in the Eagles' first meet of the spring portion of the 2013-2014 season, with teammate Laura Gaffney (Coleraine, Minn./Greenway) one stroke behind at 115.

So far, just one meet remains on Northwestern's schedule as the Eagles are scheduled to take on Bethany Lutheran College on May 1.
