NEW ULM, Minn. – Northwestern returned to the win column on Thursday afternoon with an 8-1 victory over Martin Luther College as the Eagles picked up their fifth Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) victory. UNW claimed wins in every match except the No. 4 singles bout.

Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) and Phil Gudim defeated the Knights' Jordan Bence and Tom Gorzalski 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles contest while the Eagles' No. 2 pair of
Agassi Mila (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) and
Levi Busse (Amery, Wis./Amery) defeated their opponents, Micah Koelpin and Kris Kuschel, 8-3.
Ekman had a solid 6-0, 6-0 performance against Bence in No. 1 singles, while Gudim also found overwhelming success against Martin Luther's Kuschel, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. UNW's
Chris Carlberg (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) won his first collegiate match as the freshman defeated Mary Johnston 7-5, 2-6, 10-5.
Now 6-11 overall, Northwestern will take a day off before heading across the state border to play a pair of University of Wisconsin schools – Oshkosh and Lacrosse -- on Saturday.
