No. 1 doubles scores Eagles' lone point against Cobbers

FARGO, N.D. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team was back in action for the first time in over a week on Saturday as the Eagles squared off against Concordia College-Moorhead. Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Cobbers won 8-1 to drop UNW to 1-9 overall this season.

Saturday's full match results were not immediately available.

Northwestern's lone win came in the first match of the day as the No. 1 doubles pair of Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) and Phil Gudim claimed a 9-7 victory over Zach Riggar and Sam Smith. The other two doubles matches went the Cobbers' way in 8-5 and 8-0 scores.

Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) had the best singles match of any of the Eagles' six players in his 6-4, 6-2 loss against Zach Zitur.

Northwestern begins its Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) schedule in one week when the Eagles play both St. Scholastica and North Central (Minn.) on March 29 at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville in 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. starts.
