LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The Northwestern women's tennis team picked up its third victory of the 2014 season on Saturday, sweeping Macalester College 9-0 at Lifetime Fitness. The Eagles didn't have much difficulty tackling the Scots, who were forced to move the home match from their St. Paul campus due to Macalester hosting the Dalai Lama.
Freshman
Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) continued her impressive start with another singles victory, defeating Macalester's Riley Mengh 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 position to remain unbeaten in singles play thus far.
Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) also posted a win at No. 1 singles as she beat the Scots' Kate Glenna 6-4, 6-3.
Before singles action started, the Eagles took all three doubles matches. Moe and No. 2 doubles partner
Tina Matetich (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) had the best match from a statistics perspective as they handed Mengh and Gabrielle Rivera an 8-0 loss.
