Macalester sweeps Men's Tennis 9-0

LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team continues to look for answers following a 9-0 loss to Macalester College on Saturday evening at Lifetime Fitness. The loss drops the Eagles, who have won just one set this season, to 0-3 in 2014.

Macalester took all three doubles matches in convincing fashion, going down the list in 8-1, 8-2 and 8-3. UNW's No. 1 singles player in Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) had the best performance of the night from a statistical standpoint in a 6-2, 6-3 loss to the Scots' Brian Utz. The remaining Northwetern players were only able to grab six games to finish out singles play.

Northwestern will look for a change in climate to spark the 2014 campaign as the Eagles head to Tampa, Fla. next week to play several matches over spring break. The first contest for UNW in the Sunshine State will pit the Eagles against Regis College on March 7.
