Box Score ST. PAUL – The University of Minnesota Morris, ranked second in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), stole the 3-0 victory over the Eagles Saturday night in a tough conference loss from the home team. In search of a few more victories in order to compete in the post-season, the Eagles will continue to fight to make the playoffs.
With little action in the first 37 minutes of the half, the Cougars' Molly Hancuh broke the silence and scored her first goal of the evening just before halftime, assisted by Kelsi Kolle. Unable to find offensive opportunities, the Eagles went into halftime with a 2-0 deficit to the visitors. Shortly into the second period, Hancuh scored again off of a penalty kick in the 51st minute. Kolle wanted a goal of her own and executed with 35 minutes left in the game. Christiana Mollan was credited the assist for the visitors. The Cougars out-shot the Eagles 14-9 with four more shots on goal for the evening. Minnesota Morris secured the 3-0 win.
Torri Jordan took away four saves for the day, earning the Minnesota Morris shutout. The sophomore has started nine games for the Maroon and Gold making this her seventh shutout this year. Defensively,
Miranda Carda (Andover, Minn./Andover) snagged five saves for the Eagles.
Northwestern (4-10 Overall, 4-6 UMAC) will play their final non-conference game on Tuesday at Bethel University at 3:30 p.m. before they hit the road to play the College of St. Scholastica on Friday at 3:15 p.m. and Northland College on Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
