Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern volleyball team picked up its sixth and seventh victories of the year and its second and third Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) wins in less than 24 hours' time with quick 3-0 wins over both Northland College (25-7, 25-7, 25-15) and North Central University (25-7, 25-7, 25-8) on Saturday.

The Eagles posted their best attacking percentage of the season against the LumberJills of Northland, finishing the three set match with 33 kills on 71 attempts for a rate of .310. UNW's defense was also sharp as Northwestern held its first opponent of the day to just nine kills and a -.167 hitting mark.

The Purple and Gold went on several runs throughout the afternoon, with Jenna Staso (Missoula, Mont./Sentinel) serving eight straight points in her first start as the Eagles' libero, giving regular starter Lexi Bertsch (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) a break after UNW defeated St. Scholastica 3-0 on Friday night. Staso contributed two aces to Northwestern's team total of nine as three other Eagles added a pair of aces in the match.

Krista Stoltz (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) was good for 27 assists as UNW's Kendra Korporal (Sumner, Iowa /Sumner-Fredericksburg) led both teams with 10 kills and a .421 personal attacking rate. Freshman Shanay Gonder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) also saw some solid time on the court, tallying seven kills in 11 opportunities for a .545 mark. Defensively, Staso led all players with 12 digs.

Northwestern had even more success against North Central in the night cap as the Eagles allowed the Rams to score just 24 points throughout the entire match. Offensively, UNW one-upped itself by pushing that previous season-best attacking rate to a new level at .459, as five different players had personal hitting percentages of .500 or better.

Hallie Mueth (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork), who was rested for the first match of the day, was sharp as she lead all players with 10 kills as Stoltz pushed her per-set assists mark back over 10 for the day with a 34-assist contest. Lizzy Potratz (Oshkosh, Wis./Valley Christian ) was good for nine kills on 18 attempts, while Gonder recorded eight kills in just 11 tries in Sets 2 and 3.

Staso added 14 digs to her first match total of 12 to finish with 26 for the day.

Northwestern continues its UMAC schedule next weekend when the Eagles head back out on the road. UNW will face Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minn. on Friday night before squaring off against Martin Luther on Saturday in New Ulm, Minn.
