MORRIS, Minn. – The Northwestern College men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 9-0 victory over the University of Minnesota Morris, positioning the Eagles as the solid No. 2 seed in this weekend's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament. NWC's UMAC postseason run will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday night at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

The Cougars didn't give Northwestern much of a run in doubles play as the Eagles won all three matches by a combined score of 24-4. The NWC No. 2 pair of
Agassi Mila (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) and
Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) swept their opponents from Morris, Erik Vergiels and Tyler Ulsby, 8-0, while No. 3 duo
Levi Busse (Amery, Wis./Amery) and
Cole Grasto (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake) were right behind with an 8-1 win against Chris Rausch and Brian Nykenzi.
Already leading 3-0, Northwestern continued its momentum into singles play. Ekman finished his day two-for-two in sweeps as he shut out Ulsby in a perfect 6-0, 6-0 match at the No. 4 spot. No. 1 singles player
David Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) took care of business against Dakota Frazier 6-1, 6-0, while the Eagles' No. 3 guy, Mila, lost just two games against Vergiels in a 6-0, 6-2 finish.
Northwestern finishes the regular season portion of its schedule with a 12-10 overall record, going 8-2 in UMAC play. The Eagles will face either Martin Luther College or Minnesota Morris in Friday's first round match with the winner earning a ticket to the championship bout, which is currently scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday.
