Match Results

The Cougars didn't give Northwestern much of a run in doubles play as the Eagles won all three matches by a combined score of 24-4. The NWC No. 2 pair of Agassi Mila (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) and Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) swept their opponents from Morris, Erik Vergiels and Tyler Ulsby, 8-0, while No. 3 duo Levi Busse (Amery, Wis./Amery) and Cole Grasto (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake) were right behind with an 8-1 win against Chris Rausch and Brian Nykenzi.

Already leading 3-0, Northwestern continued its momentum into singles play. Ekman finished his day two-for-two in sweeps as he shut out Ulsby in a perfect 6-0, 6-0 match at the No. 4 spot. No. 1 singles player David Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) took care of business against Dakota Frazier 6-1, 6-0, while the Eagles' No. 3 guy, Mila, lost just two games against Vergiels in a 6-0, 6-2 finish.

Northwestern finishes the regular season portion of its schedule with a 12-10 overall record, going 8-2 in UMAC play. The Eagles will face either Martin Luther College or Minnesota Morris in Friday's first round match with the winner earning a ticket to the championship bout, which is currently scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday.
