Tuesday's sweep took a little longer than Monday night's match against North Central University, when Northwestern yielded just four games. None the less, Northwestern took nearly all nine matches in convincing fashion, starting with three solid doubles victories. At the No. 1 spot, Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and Kelly Johnson (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) teamed up for an 8-0 win against Jackie Keller and Carissa Kock to remain a perfect 7-0 in UMAC play this year. The No. 2 pair of Rachel Bostrom (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and Rachel Smith (St. Cloud, Minn./Bemidji) was also victorious as they defeated Martin Luther's Jana Spriggs and Holly Marquardt 8-2. Autumn Kampman (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) and Karin Smith (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo)'s 8-3 win against Charis Goelzer and Meja Epple at No. 3 doubles gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) continued her momentum with an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory over Keller at No. 1. The Northwestern sophomore hasn't lost a singles match since March 28, allowing just nine games against her in 12 sets in that time span. Kelly Johnson (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and Bostrom also took their Nos. 2 and 3 singles matches in 6-1, 6-1 fashion, while Smith earned a solid 6-1, 6-0 win against Spriggs in the No. 4 singles match. The senior has also been hot with five straight singles wins to go with the same number of consecutive doubles victories.

Karin Smith (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) overcame a first set loss to win her second set 6-2 and the tiebreaker 10-7 to overcome Goelzer in the No. 5 spot, while Kampman swept Melissa Stibb 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles to finish out the day.

Now 8-6 overall, the win improves Northwestern's UMAC record to 6-1. After taking a deserved day off on Wednesday, the Eagles will be back in action on Thursday afternoon when NWC faces the University of Minnesota Morris at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville, Minn. for a 1 p.m. match.
