MINNEAPOLIS – The Northwestern College women's tennis team put on a dominating performance on Monday night as the Eagles yielded just four games throughout six singles matches and three doubles matches in a 9-0 win over North Central University at the Baseline Tennis Center.

All three of the NWC doubles teams claimed fairly easy victories, led by the No. 1 pair of Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and Kelly Johnson (Annandale, Minn./Annandale), who swept Tera Weyer and Katrina Cox 8-0. The sister duo of Rachel Smith (St. Cloud, Minn./Bemidji) and Karin Smith (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) nearly matched the same score at No. 2 doubles as they defeated Nicole Demuth and Mary Metzger 8-1.

With a 3-0 lead in their back pocket, it didn't take long for Northwestern to get to the five point plateau as Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and Kelly Johnson (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) each won their singles matches in decisive 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at the No. 1 and 2 spots. Rachel Smith (St. Cloud, Minn./Bemidji) gave up just a game in her No. 3 singles match before Karin Smith (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo), Aubree Else (Oskaloosa, Iowa/Pella Christian) and Autumn Kampman (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) finished the night – all in perfect 6-0, 6-0 fashion against their Rams counterparts.

NWC will be in action right away again on Tuesday afternoon as the Purple and Gold head southwest to New Ulm, Minn. where they will meet host-Martin Luther College for a 3 p.m. match.
