FRIDLEY, Minn. – Northwestern College came out on the short side of a 5-4 score against Concordia College-Moorhead on Friday afternoon, dropping the Eagles to 3-7 overall in 2013.
Northwestern started its afternoon out by taking two of the three doubles matches.
David Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) and
Keagan Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) defeated Brian Olson and Nick Moe 8-2 at the No. 1 doubles position while the Eagles' No. 3 team of
Levi Busse (Amery, Wis./Amery) and Coleton Grasto also won as they beat Zach Zitur and Austin Storm 8-5.
Match Results
Knight and Blancke were the only NWC players to find success in singles action. Knight took care of Olson 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Blancke beat Peter Dahlberg 6-1, 6-2. Things went downhill from there for the Eagles, as Concordia took the remaining four singles matches, ultimately winning the match by one.
Tuesday, March 26 will present Northwestern with its next opportunity to earn a victory when the Eagles open up their Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) schedule against Bethany Lutheran College. That match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
