HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Northwestern College men's tennis team found the win column again on Wednesday morning as the Eagles defeated Alfred University (N.Y.) 7-2 to wrap up NWC's spring break trip.
Northwestern started with two victories in the three doubles matches that were played with both wins coming on an 8-3 account.
David Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) and
Keagan Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) did their part at No. 1 doubles while the No. 3 pair of
Philip Gudim (Becker, Minn./Home School) and
Levi Busse (Amery, Wis./Amery) beat their counterparts from the Saxons as well.
Match Results
Northwestern took five of the six singles matches, including Coleton Grasto's 6-1, 6-2 victory over Dalton Divine at the No. 6 spot to earn Grasto his first collegiate victory. Knight and Blancke were both victorious in their singles contests, beating Connor Doud 6-1, 6-3 and Peter Benoit 6-2, 6-0.
With the Eagles' Tuesday match against Baldwin Wallace University cancelled due to inclement weather, Northwestern wraps up its trip with a 2-3 mark in South Carolina and a 3-6 record overall. NWC is scheduled to be back in action in just over a week's time as the Eagles welcome Concordia College-Moorhead to Lifetime Fitness in Fridley, Minn. on Friday, March 22.
