Box Score ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Northwestern College women's soccer team is left still searching for their first win of the season after dropping a 4-0 game to Bethel University Friday afternoon.
The Eagles' defense held off eight Bethel shots in the first half and kept the home team's offense in check, with a halftime score of 0-0. A deflection off a Northwestern player gave the Royals their first goal at the 48:54 mark of the second period. The home team scored again nearly eight minutes later and found the back of the net two more times before the end of the game.
Sarah Stenson (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) fended off 11 Bethel shots on goal, but the Royals outshot NWC 24-5, including 16-1 in the last 45 minutes of play.
Northwestern will return to the field next Friday, September 14 when the team kicks off Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action in a 2 p.m. matchup at Martin Luther College. The next day, the Eagles will conclude the opening weekend of conference play with a 12 p.m. game against Bethany Lutheran College.
