SUPERIOR, Wis.- The University of Northwestern women's soccer team traveled up to the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday night for a 2025 UMAC Championship rematch. Northwestern took the lead in the first half, before UWS leveled the scoring to finish tied at one.
In a very even match-up between two of the top UMAC teams, UNW edged out one more shot attempt than the Yellowjackets while both teams finished with seven shots on goal. In the 30th minute,
Marie Kendall (Dakar, Senegal/Dakar Academy) put UNW on the board with a perfect touch off a corner kick delivered by
Naomi Meehan (Waconia, Minn./Homeschool). Northwestern maintained the advantage for 20 minutes before a long-range shot from UW-Superior found the back of the net to erase the Eagles' lead and tie the score at one.
Kendall and Meehan combined for all seven on-goal attempts. Kendall tallied the lone goal with nine shots and five on target. Meehan finished with the assist, and five shots with two on target.
Sam Hansen (Cottage Grove, Minn./New Life Academy) again held down the goal and collected six saves.
UNW will continue their road stretch in New Ulm, taking on Martin Luther at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 26.
