Men's Tennis sweeps Bethany Lutheran

Final Results

FRIDLEY, Minn. -- Northwestern College handily defeated Bethany Lutheran College on Tuesday afternoon, winning their second consecutive UMAC match by a 9-0 final score to improve to 2-0 in league play this season.

The Eagles took care of business right off the bat, winning all three doubles matches. Both of Northwestern's Nos. 2 and 3 doubles teams won 8-2, while the No. 1 tandem of David Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) and Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) defeated Bethany's David Blumer and Ryan Koch 8-0.

In singles action, Kauss, Keagan Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River), Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) and Philip Gudim (Becker, Minn./Home School) all won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Knight was close behind, beating Blumer 6-1, 6-1 in the quick match.

With the victory, Northwestern improves to 5-7 overall. The Eagles will be back in action at Lifetime Fitness on Thursday afternoon when NWC hosts the University of Minnesota Morris for a 3 p.m. match.
