Match Results

FRIDLEY, Minn. – The Northwestern College women's tennis dropped its second consecutive match on Friday, losing to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 9-0 at Lifetime Fitness. Eau Claire entered the match ranked 22nd in the most recent NCAA region rankings.

Two of the Eagles' three doubles teams lost 8-5 in their matches, but NWC went into singles action down 3-0. With the exception of two singles matches, Northwestern lost almost all of its contests to the 16-5 Blugolds by wide margins. Kelly Johnson (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) took Eau Claire's Gretchen Bachmeier to a third set tiebreaker before losing 6-0, 2-6, 10-7. Amy Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) also put up a fight in her No. 4 singles match, before ultimately falling 6-4, 6-3 to Maddie Johnson.

Now 8-10 overall, NWC will try to get back on the winning track on Saturday when the Eagles head to Moorhead, Minn. to face another nonconference foe in Concordia College. That match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
