Women's Tennis improves to 4-0 in UMAC play with win over Martin Luther

FRIDLEY, Minn. – Northwestern College improved to 4-0 in UMAC play on Wednesday with a sweeping 9-0 victory over Martin Luther College. The Eagles are now 7-8 overall on the season.

All three NWC doubles teams were successful, including the No. 3 partnership of Amber Gallaway (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and Rachel Smith (St. Cloud, Minn./Bemidji), who defeated Martin Luther's Jacqueline Keller and Taylor Thomson 8-1.

In singles action, four different Eagles recorded at least one 6-0 set, including Smith, who swept Keller 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Kelly Johnson (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) also had a nearly flawless day at No. 2 singles as she beat Karina Luthra 6-0, 6-0.

Northwestern will return to the tennis court right away on Thursday for another UMAC match, this time against North Central University. The Eagles and Rams will begin their match at 3 p.m. at Lifetime Fitness in Fridley.
