Match Results

FRIDLEY, Minn. – The Northwestern College men's tennis team improved its season record to 7-7 on Tuesday while earning its fourth straight UMAC victory in a 9-0 win over Martin Luther College.

The Eagles wasted no time in gaining an advantage as NWC assuredly took all three doubles matches. Keagan Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) and Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) had an especially nice match at No. 2 doubles, defeating the Knights' Ben Nommensen and William Scoggins 8-1.

In singles action, four of Northwestern's six singles players recorded at least one 6-0 set in their matches Philip Gudim (Becker, Minn./Home School) swept his opponent, David Marquardt, 6-0, 6-0 in straight sets at No. 5 singles. David Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) and Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) both lost just two games in their Nos. 1 and 2 singles matches, as did Agassi Mila (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) at No. 6 singles as he defeated Nathanael Jensen.

The Eagles won't have long to celebrate their win, as they'll play another UMAC foe in North Central University on Thursday afternoon. That match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at Lifetime Fitness in Fridley.
