Women's Tennis suffers 7-2 defeat from St. Kate's

Final Results

MINNEAPOLIS – Several Eagles put up a strong fight on Saturday morning, but St. Catherine got the best of Northwestern College by a 7-2 score at the Baseline Tennis Center on the University of Minnesota campus.

Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and Amy Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) recorded victories on the day. Johnson's win came in the No. 1 singles match, where the freshman handed Michaela Burroughs a 7-5, 6-3 loss. Knight took care of business at No. 5 singles, where she beat April Fard 7-5, 6-2.

The Eagles lost all three doubles matches to start the day. The NWC combo of Megan Johnson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and Kelly Johnson (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) came the closest to a victory at 8-5.

Now 1-3 in 2012, Northwestern is set to face the other Northwestern College – of Iowa – on Friday, Feb. 24 at Lifetime Fitness in Fridley. That match is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m.
