Women's soccer ends contest in 1-1 tie with Northland

Box Score
ASHLAND, Wis. – In its second overtime game of the season, the Northwestern College women's soccer team ended Thursday's 110-minute contest versus Northland College in a 1-1 tie. After scoring late in the first half, the Eagles were unable to keep their advantage for long as Northland scored less than eight minutes after the visiting team got on the board.

After an exchange of shots from both teams, Heidi Anderson (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Walnut Ridge Academy) found Rebekah Carrizales (Anoka, Minn./PACT Charter School) for NWC's first and only goal of the game in the 34th minute. The Eagles headed into intermission with a 1-0 advantage but just 1:44 into the second period North Central evened the game and secured what would end up being the final score of the contest.

The Purple and Gold notched 20 shots in the conference duel in comparison to the Lumberjills' 12, and the team also earned an advantage in shots on goal, 10-8. Defensively, Emily Johnson (Esko, Minn./Esko) fended off seven of the home team's shots on goal in the double overtime matchup.

With the tie, Northwestern now owns a 6-5-1 overall record and is 6-2-1 in conference. The Eagles will now shift their attention to Saturday when the team plays host to the College of St. Scholastica, who is currently tied atop the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) standings. NWC last faced the Saints on September 22 in Duluth, Minn. as the Eagles came up short in the 2-0 contest.

A 2:30 p.m. kickoff time is slated for Saturday's game at Reynolds Field. Fans can follow along with the action via live stats and video.
