MINNEAPOLIS – The Northwestern Men's tennis team swept North Central this past Wednesday in the frigid cold at the Baseline Tennis Center. Northwestern defeated North Central 9-0.
Northwestern's No. 1 and No. 4 singles players,
David Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) and
Josh Nelson (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) both defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0. The rest of the men's team defeated their opponents losing no more than two games total in their matches.
In doubles play, Northwestern's No. 2 and No. 3, Knight and Nelson and
Josh Fread (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo) (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo) and
Erik Starr (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) didn't lose a single game, defeating their opponents 8-0. At No. 1 doubles,
Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and
Keagan Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) beat their Ram opponents 8-3.
Now 6-11 overall, the Eagles hope to keep the winning streak alive and defeat the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at the Fridley, Minn. Lifetime Fitness.
