Men's Tennis sweeps Bethany Lutheran

Final Match Results

MANKATO, Minn. -- The Northwestern College men's tennis team won its second straight match in 9-0 fashion on Thursday night, claiming victory over Bethany Lutheran College.

Four different NWC singles players took their matches in 6-0, 6-0 straight sets, including No. 1 David Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge), No. 2 Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) (St. Paul, Minn./Harding), No. 4 Josh Nelson (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) and No. 6 Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) (River Falls, Wis./River Falls). All three of the Eagles' doubles teams were nearly flawless on the night as well. After the No. 1 doubles team of Kauss and Keagen Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) won their match 8-1, the other two doubles pairings both claimed 8-0 advantages.

With the win, Northwestern improved to 4-10 overall and 4-1 in UMAC play. The Eagles will play right away again on Friday at Saint Mary's University in Winona, Minn. That match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
