By Kristina Siemens

FRIDLEY, Minn. – The Northwestern women's tennis team faced their toughest competitors this past Saturday when they took on the College of St. Scholastica. The Saints defeated the Eagles 9-0.

Amy Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge), Northwestern's No. 2 singles player, came the closest to beating her opponent. Knight was defeated in the super tiebreaker by a score of 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, 10-3. The rest of the ladies fell to their opponents winning no more than three games in each match.

St. Scholastica not only swept the singles games, but also all of the doubles matches. All of Northwestern's doubles teams lost 8-0 to their Saints opponents, who were picked to win the UMAC championship by the league's coaches.

The Eagles, now 2-11, hope to learn from Saturday's match as they face North Central University on Tuesday, April 12th in Minneapolis at 3 p.m.
