ASHLAND, Wis. -- The Northwestern College men's basketball team increased its current winning streak to eight after a convincing 81-58 victory over Northland College on Saturday evening. The Eagles shot over 50 percent for the third straight game while making half of their 22 three-point attempts.

Wade Chitwood (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) made one of his eight baskets on the night with 16:10 remaining in the game to push Northwestern's lead to 21. Westberg took over from there, making three straight treys to give the Eagles a 66-36 cushion before the Purple and Gold ultimately claimed a 23-point victory.
As a team, Northwestern knocked down 31 of its 50 shots for a 62 percent rate while going 11 of 22 from behind the three-point line. Chitwood led the team with 18 points, making eight of his 10 attempts. Westberg, who has recorded 14 or more points in each of the Eagles' last three games, finished 5-8 and 4-7 from long range.

The LumberJacks' Adrian Flores was 9-12 for a game-high 20 points while his team finished with a 45 percent shooting percentage on the night. Northland fell to 3-18 overall (1-9 UMAC) with the loss.
Northwestern, now 15-6 (9-1 UMAC) after the win, will return home to prepare for its final regular season home games next weekend. The Eagles will host Presentation College on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. before welcoming the University of Minnesota, Morris on Saturday at 5 p.m.
