Women's Soccer shuts out Crown for second consecutive day

Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – Northwestern College shutout Crown College for the second straight day on Saturday, winning 4-0 after defeating the Storm 5-0 on Friday.  Saturday's game was on Crown's home turf, but the Eagles didn't have any trouble scoring goals, as four different NWC players found the back of the net.

Rebekah Kirby (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial), who netted a hat trick on Friday, started things off just two minutes and 30 seconds into the game, scoring on goalkeeper Hillary Brondsema.  Sara Kallhoff (Willmar, Minn./Willmar) (Willmar, Minn./Willmar), another one of NWC's scorers from Friday, and Sarah Scinto (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) scored goals just five minutes apart in the 12th and 17th minutes to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead after the initial 45 minutes.

Lyssa Hester (Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville) (Kasson, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville) wrapped up Northwestern's scoring in the 71st minute with a shot that floated over the top of Brondsema and into the net.

Lauren Cleope (Manila, Philippines/Faith Academy) (Manila, Philippines/Faith Academy) had three assists on the day.

NWC had 27 shots in the game, compared to just two for Crown.  Sarah Stenson (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) had to make one save to earn the shutout.

Now 8-4 overall and 6-1 in the UMAC, Northwestern will head back home to practice before hosting Martin Luther College at Reynolds Field next Thursday, October 13 at 1:30 p.m.
