St. Scholastica gets Eagles' number in women's soccer

Box Score ST. PAUL -- Friday's rematch of the 2010 UMAC Tournament Championship game between Northwestern College and the College of St. Scholastica went heavily in the Saints' favor as the visitors left Reynolds Field with a 5-0 victory.

St. Scholastica scored goals in the 27th and 43rd minutes to lead 2-0 at halftime.  The Saints scored again quickly in the second period before adding insurance goals in the 73rd and 81st minutes of the game.

Northwestern, who beat St. Scholastica to earn a berth in its first NCAA Tournament last November, had four shots on goal in the game, but none of them went past the Saints' Baily Mahlum.  Andrea Beatt scored twice for St. Scholastica while Casey Mitchell earned two assists.

Following the loss, the Eagles drop to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in UMAC play. NWC will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Northland College at 2 p.m.
