Eagles return home for UMAC semifinal after 2-1 loss to St. Scholastica

Box Score DULUTH, Minn. – Northwestern College was the first to score in Saturday's road game at the College of St. Scholastica, but it was the Saints who left victorious with a 2-1 victory.

Sara Kallhoff (Willmar, Minn./Willmar) (Willmar, Minn./Willmar) scored NWC's goal in the 17th minute, giving the Eagles an early 1-0 victory.  Rebekah Kirby (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) assisted on Kallhoff's goal.  St. Scholastica responded three minutes later, as Taylor Cunningham equaled the score with a goal at the 20:32 mark.

After a 1-1 tie at halftime, Cunningham scored her second goal of the game and it stuck as the Saints prevailed with the score at 2-1 for the remainder of the game.

St. Scholastica owned an 11-3 advantage in shots, with all three of the Eagles' shots coming on goal.

Now 11-6-1 overall (8-3-1 UMAC) after the loss, Northwestern will return home to prepare for next week's UMAC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday.  NWC, the tournament's No. 2 seed, will host third-seeded University of Minnesota Morris at Reynolds Field for a 2 p.m. semifinal.
