Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northwestern College volleyball team won at least a share of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season championship on Friday night with a 3-0 victory over Northland College. Nearly everyone dressed in an Eagles uniform saw the court as NWC hit .347 with 38 kills while holding Northland to 17 kills and a -.093 mark.
Northwestern raced out to big leads, finishing off the three sets with scores of 25-10, 25-10, and 25-15.
Chelsea Koth (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and
Courtney Jonas (Neenah, Wis./Valley Christian) (Neenah, Wis./Valley Christian) each had a team-high seven kills while
Krista Stoltz (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) posted 29 assists.
Lexi Bertsch (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) was solid on defense, leading all players with 18 digs.
Northland had more errors than kills in all three sets. Erin Roembke led the LumberJills with four kills.
The conference championship is Northwestern's 14
th and the fourth in the last five years. The Eagles, now 26-4 overall and 13-0 in UMAC action, will have an opportunity to win the title outright, but a date with the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon stands in the way. The Saints are one game behind the Eagles and will look to avenge a 3-2 loss to NWC from Oct. 7. The match in Duluth will start at 1 p.m.
