Men's Tennis cruises to first UMAC victory

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- The Northwestern College men's tennis team won its first UMAC match of the 2010 season on Wednesday, sweeping the University of Minnesota, Morris in 9-0 fashion. Two NWC players won their single matches 6-0, 6-0 while the Eagles' No. 3 doubles team claimed an 8-0 victory.

After Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) defeated Geoffrey Giraud 6-4, 6-3 in No. 1 singles play, Northwestern's Keagen Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) handed a double-donut loss to Morris' Chris Droske at No. 2. Jeremiah Schneck (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Andrew Joyner, and the Eagles were en route to a lopsided 9-0 victory.

Adam Nehl (Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial) (Circle Pines, Minn./Circle Pines) teamed up with Derek Gee (Eagan, Minn./Homeschool) (Eagen, Minn./Homeschool) to win their No. 3 doubles match 8-0 to solidify the Eagles' victory.

With the win, Northwestern improves to 2-10 this season. The Eagles' next match will be right away on Thursday, April 8, when Northwestern travels to New Ulm, Minn. to play Martin Luther College. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
